The second European conference on commemorative coins COINS-2010

         Lithuanian Mint participated in the Second European conference on commemorative coins COINS-2010 which took place on 9-10 June in Saint – Petersburg. More than 200 delegates from 29 countries participated in it. They are representatives of national banks, mints, commercial banks, distributing companies, companies producers of minting equipment. 
        The main themes of the conference were modern commemorative coins design, newest technologies of the coins production, particularities of the commemorative coins promotion in the retail business.
        The awarding ceremony of the Fourth International contest “Coin Constellation-2010” took place during the conference.
        209 coins from 24 countries participated in the contest.
        In the nomination «Coin of the year» the international contest committee awarded the prize to the coin “Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka” presented by National Bank of Ukraine.
        The best in the nomination «Unique idea solution» became the «Coin of Water» (Bank of Latvia ),The «Silver coin of the year» was named the coin «Czeslaw Niemen» (National Bank of Poland and Mint of Poland), the coin of Bank of Lithuania, dedicated to Tytuvenai architectural ensemble ( from the series Hystorical and Archtectual Monuments of Lithuania) was also nominated in this contest.
