1 litas (circulation commemorative, 1997)


Specifications: diameter - 22.30 mm, thickness - 2.20 mm, weight - 6.25 g.
Material: alloy of copper and nickel.
The edge of the coin is rimmed at intervals.

The obverse of the coin carries the image of the Coat of Arms - Vytis. The inscriptions LIETUVA 1 LITAS and year of issue - 1997 inscribed below in the form of a semi - circle. The coin has a rim, the inner side of which is plain.

The reverse represents the portrait of Prof. Vladas Jurgutis (1885-1966), the first Governor of the Bank of Lithuania, in the centre and a facsimile of his signature below. The portrait is semi - encircled with the inscription LIETUVOS BANKUI IR LITUI 75. The coin has a rim the inner side of which is plain.

The designer of the coin is sculptor Rimantas Eidejus.

The image of the Coat of Arms - Vytis is adapted for the coin by artist Arvydas Kazdailis.

Mintage 200 thou. pcs.

The coin was minted at the state enterprise Lithuanian Mint.
